Perfecting the Pitch

Entrepreneur students in their final course at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire have spent the past week practicing their business pitches. Each student is given two minutes to pitch their business idea to their classmates as they would to an investor. “A two-minute business pitch is anything but simple. Creating a concise and effective pitch takes time and practice, but it's important work, ” says entrepreneur professor, Ann Rupnow. “If you aren’t prepared at all times to articulate your startup idea, you may miss an opportunity to gain an investor or make a sale,” she states. Pitching a business idea is something that will become more than just a class assignment to some students this spring. In the upcoming campus-wide event, “Swim with the Sharks,” students will have the opportunity to pitch their business idea to a live audience and a panel of judges.
