This week was Startup Eau Claire Week, throughout the week we had eleven different Entrepreneurial events around the community. Statewide there were over two hundred events, making Startup Wisconsin Week the largest entrepreneurial event in the state! Ranging from our Swim With the Sharks business pitch competition, to learning about marketing mistakes from a local expert the week was a lot of fun and very informative. If you were at any of the events, make sure to share your experience on your social media outlets and spread the word!

Today we hosted the winners of this weekend's Startup48 entrepreneurial contest, BuildABio! Their website assists young professionals in writing their career biography for LinkedIn, and other business networking apps. They do this by having a program that forms sentences based on the user's response to ten questions that focus on their strengths, achievements, and education. The team qualified for the regional Big Idea Tournament, we wish them the best of luck in their competition and future endeavors!

ABOUT

Startup Current is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Dennis L. Heyde Entrepreneur Program. Its purpose is to promote a culture of entrepreneurship across our campus and throughout Eau Claire, WI. We provide startup-related news briefs, and information about entrepreneur related events.

DENNIS L. HEYDE
ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM

The Dennis L. Heyde Entrepreneur Program was established at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1994, through a substantial gift by Dennis and Carol Heyde. The program helps students learn how to start a business. As part of that process, they envision and define their success, search for an idea and workable model, connect with helpful mentors, develop plans, and determine their next steps. Students can earn a:

•   Major in Management with an Entrepreneurship Emphasis
•   Minor in Entrepreneurship
•   Certificate in Entrepreneurship (that can be paired with any UW-Eau Claire major or minor)

In addition to innovative and comprehensive coursework, entrepreneur students gain knowledge through hands-on projects. They interact with customers and community, and experience what it means to be part of a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem.
