Danielle Campeau gave the 1 Million Cups audience an update on the St. Croix Valley Business Innovation Center. The new business incubator began as an idea the first time it was presented one year ago at 1MC to now a fully completed building with over 38% occupancy at the start. The state-of-the-art center provides clients with incubation space and training for their startups. Future plans include hiring individuals for an advisory board and reaching out to local entrepreneurs in the St. Croix region.

Daniel Ekblad explained to the 1 Million Cups Audience how difficult it is to lose weight and actually keep the weight off. Daniel's wellness coaching does not emphasize diets due to their short and usually ineffective lifespan, rather, he takes time to understand his clients' needs and develops a custom eating and exercising plan specific to the person. Daniel has worked with former contestants from The Biggest Loser and other clients around the U.S. and Canada.

ABOUT

Startup Current is sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire’s Dennis L. Heyde Entrepreneur Program. Its purpose is to promote a culture of entrepreneurship across our campus and throughout Eau Claire, WI. We provide startup-related news briefs, and information about entrepreneur related events.

DENNIS L. HEYDE
ENTREPRENEUR PROGRAM

The Dennis L. Heyde Entrepreneur Program was established at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in 1994, through a substantial gift by Dennis and Carol Heyde. The program helps students learn how to start a business. As part of that process, they envision and define their success, search for an idea and workable model, connect with helpful mentors, develop plans, and determine their next steps. Students can earn a:

•   Major in Management with an Entrepreneurship Emphasis
•   Minor in Entrepreneurship
•   Certificate in Entrepreneurship (that can be paired with any UW-Eau Claire major or minor)

In addition to innovative and comprehensive coursework, entrepreneur students gain knowledge through hands-on projects. They interact with customers and community, and experience what it means to be part of a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem.
